A Day To Remember

This day was a huge day in history. The Twin Towers fell, people died, and buildings crashed. It all happened on 9/11. I am interviewing my mom about 9/11.

What time did the terrorists attack?
7:12 am [mountain time]

Did you find out on t.v?
No. A friend called.

Did you keep the kids inside or send them to school/day care?
They were too young to go to school.

Were you shocked?
Yes. I was scared and frightened.

What plane did this happen in?
United Airline and I think American Airlines as well.

How did you feel when you found out?
I felt scared, shocked, confused and sad.

What did you do when when you found out?
I cried and watched the news all day.

What was I doing when this happened?
You wanted to watch a kids show.

What did you tell me?
Nothing. Just that bad people did bad things.

Where was Kirk? (Kirk is my dad).
At work.

Did he come home? If so, how did he find out?
He did not come home, because he was at work and I called him to tell him.
So what happened exactly on the plane?
The terrorists got on the plane pretending they were passengers and they took over the pilot and killed everyone on the plane.

Were the terrorists planning to attack the people on the plane for a while?
Yes. They took many lessons to fly the plane.

How many people died? Did you know anyone who died?
5,300 people died. I did not know anyone who died.

Did you expect it to be better or worse than what it already was?
I didn't know what to expect, it was all just really bad.

I have learned a bit more about 9/11. It will always be a huge part of our history. So next time you think of 9/11, think of all the people who gave their lives for our country.
