Want Some Pudzza?

Want some pudzza? I do! If your wondering what pudzza is, I don't blame you. It is pudding and pizza combined. Pudding and pizza are my two favorite foods.
Pudding and pizza are nearly the same thing. Well...... sort of. First, their both bought and sold at grocery stores. Also they have many flavors. Ice cream has white vanilla, double chocolate, sweet strawberry, creamy Carmel and many, many more. Pizza also has flavors like delicious pepperoni, mouth watering sausage, spicy taco, the great meat lovers, and of course Canadian bacon pizza. Are you hungry yet? Next, you can buy more than one flavors on one pizza or more than on flavor in one cup. For example, a sausage and pepperoni pizza or a vanilla and chocolate swirl pudding cup.
However there not exactly the same, so they do have some differences. First pizza can be delivered, where pudding can only be store bought. Obviously pizza is hot and pudding is not. Another is that pizza is usually bought in a box, unlike pudding which is sold in a cup. Lastly, there are whole restaurants of just pizza. I don't know about you but I have never seen a restaurant that just sells pudding.
So if your ever wondering what pudzza is know you know.

The Fall

I was eight and in third grade. It was summer and I had planned a trip to go boating with my dad. Then later I would go to Nick's birthday. I had gotten Nick a remote control car for his birthday.
So later in the day I was ready to go boating with my dad. " Are we ready to boating?", I said.
"Ya ," he replied. So after we got packed up we headed out. Once we got there we lowered the boat into the water. My dad and I hopped aboard. So when we both were on and ready we were off. First my dad and I started off by just riding around. Then later we started fishing off of our boat. Later we turned the boat off and relaxed. After about two hours I was hungry and we decided to leave. "What's for lunch dad?"
"Hot dogs ," he said.
"Great, let's go," I replied.
So we packed up and headed out. Once we got to the dock we pulled the boat up the ramp. Then we parked and my dad started making some lunch. While my dad cooked lunch I went to climb on some rocks. After about 15 minutes of waiting, my dad said "Mason lunch is ready."
"Coming dad." So I walked over to our parked boat and climbed up the ladder and then...... THUNK!!!! I had fallen on my head directly on the concrete. After my dad had heard the horrific sound he rushed over and immediately jumped off the boat to help me. For the first five seconds I was unconscious. But then I woke up and started crying. Blood was gushing out of my head. My dad handed me a rag to stop the bleeding. I was so frightened. I had asked my dad about ten times, "What happened Dad?"
"I told you already Mason, you fell on your head," he replied
As my dad frantically packed up to go to the hospital my dad called my mom.
"Dawn, don't panic but Mason just fell off the boat on the cement and were going to the hospital, we need you to meet us there," he said.
"OK, I'll hurry," she replied.
I remember all I was thinking about was surviving and seeing my family. I was praying that I would survive. I hoped that I would live to see tomorrow. Once we got there the nurse asked alot of questions. Later on I met my mom at the hospital. The doctors made me get an MRI. After the doctors said that I would be alright my parents and I had a sigh of relief.

Disneyworld Better Than Disneyland? Yes

Imagine yourself walking into the biggest theme park in the United States and everybody rushing to get in line for some of the most popular rides in the park. Have you been to Disneyworld? Well I have and I think Disneyworld is much better than Disneyland. Did you know that Disney world is one of the most popular vacation spots in the United States? It gets more than 100,000 visitors each day. In this essay I will compare Disneyworld and Disneyland and try to persuade you to believe Disneyworld is the better park, as I do.

First of all Disneyworld is so much bigger than Disneyland. Why go to the land when you can go to the world?! For example, Disneyland can fit into the front parking lot in Magic Kingdom in Disneywold. Also, Disneyworld is a multi-themed park while Disneyland is a small themed park. At Disneyworld you have 7 places to choose from rather than just two at Disneyland. In addition, Disneyworld was made in 1971 but Disneyland was made in 1955 so Disneyworld has more new rides and attractions.

Some believe Disneyworld is not better. For example, Disneyworld costs about $12 more per person for one day. You could save money by going to Disneyland. Also, some like the location of California better than Florida. Disneyland is also the original theme park, built and created first. That makes it pretty special, in some people's opinions.

Although you would save money on the daily rate for Disneyland and the location might be more appealing to some, I believe that what a park has to offer, the fun and amusement it can provide are the most important points. I believe you truly get your money's worth at Disneyworld because there are a lot more rides and sites to choose from. You have a lot more experiences, choices and therefore memories than in a smaller park like Disneyland.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Businesses, homes, farming, and dreams were all destroyed by the devastating floods of 1993. The floods of 1993 were so horrible that researchers say that another flood like this won't happen for another 500 years. My mom was living in Des Moines that summer and shared her experience with me.

Interviewer: Mason S.
Interviewee: Dawn (mom)
Can you describe the scenery?
Most of the roads we regularly traveled on were closed due to the flooding, so traffic was very heavy every time you would try to go somewhere. Sandbags were surrounding the area on Fleur Drive in Des Moines, to try to protect the Water Plant. Portable toilets were set up around town; trucks came in that people could shower in and the lines for both were very long. Neighbors would catch rain water in their garbage cans to use to flush their toilets in their homes. The home I was staying in had no running water and with in walking distances we could see flooded streets.
Can you describe your reaction to the flood?
Surprise! I was on vacation in another state that was not affected by the flooding and I had not been reading newspapers or listening to the news. While driving home on Interstate 80W, I did notice a lot of farms that were flooded and then as I approached the Des Moines area, there were signs about road closings and then I saw the National Guard and I couldn't get through to my home! I came back to Des Moines to go back to work but everything in Des Moines was shut down, so I was disappointed I was back - with nothing to do and no water in my home!
How did this make you feel?
I felt so fortunate that my family and I did not lose our home and we still had our health. I felt very sad for those people who lost their businesses and/or homes. I went one day to help sandbag near the water plant because I felt like I needed to help in some small way at least.
Can you describe how severe the flood was?
It was a major disaster. It was on National news. It was in the Des Moines Register every day for weeks and weeks. Everyone has a story about surviving the floods of '93. It affected so many people in so many different ways. It was also severe enough to have the current President, President Clinton, make a visit to Des Moines. He assisted with some sandbagging for a little bit on Fleur Drive. I was able to squeeze my arm through the crowd and he shook my hand! On a rank from one to ten, I would say it had to be a ten in severity.
In conclusion, the Flood of 1993 was so severe that people who experienced it are unlikely to ever forget the details. It made National news and affected the farm land, businesses, homes, and people's lives. I learned a lot about this flood while interviewing my mom, who experienced the flood first hand.

A Big Red Nose, painted face....

One bright and sunny day Ben and I were heading to work. We worked at the Count Fair in North Dakota. We were clowns. Kind of embarrassing, but it was alright.
Then one day our friends came along and thought it would be funny to taunt us. I thought it was pretty funny myself.
Exactly one year had passed, and on the same day our friends came to taunt us, they did it again. Except this time they were dressed up as clowns. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. All of us were dressed up as clowns, we were wearing a big red nose, face painting, big red wigs, and a small hat.
So then every day on this day we decided to dress up as clowns. Then something hit me, my cousin was a publicist. Why don't I tell him about our holiday and he could publish it. So I told him and he published it.
Then I heard a faint screaming sound. Somebody was screaming my name. Mason, Mason, Mason! So I immediately woke up. Ben was the one who was screaming, he told me that the holiday where we dress up as clowns is a national holiday! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This was the most exciting thing that's ever happened. So when I was all dressed, we headed to the fair. There were thousands of people in line trying to get in , and the crazy thing was that every single person was dressed up as a clown. I could smell all the pies that were being thrown at the pie throwing contest, and all I could feel were the people rushing in to get in line. All i could see were clowns.
That was how international dress like a clown day was made.

The Waukee White Ravens

It was Sunday afternoon at 1:00, and I had my first football game of the season. We were playing the Chiefs, who we had also played last year but lost. We had been practicing all week and were ready for revenge.
I decided to get my pads on. First I put on my jock strap, my girdle(hip pads), and then my pants(thigh and knee pads). Next I had to get my water ready. The water was so cold that it felt like I had frost bite.
Before the game our team had a short warm up. We did stretches and I was a leader. Next it was game time and I could feel the tention building. As I walked in I could hear the roar of the crowd and screaming fans. I could smell the smell of the concession stand. I had always loved the sight of the green grass.
We started off with the coin toss and we picked heads. The coin had landed on tails and the other team chose the ball. Since we were defense that meant I was in. We stopped the Chiefs and they decided to punt. We moved the ball to the 10 yard line. I thought, "This is a great way to start off the game."But then... OH NO!!! We fumbled. It was a turn over and the first quarter ended.
Now it was the second quarter, and we needed to stop the Chiefs. They ran the ball, and I made a phenomenal tackle. I could hear the sound of my coaches chanting as I thrust my pads into the running back. It was a turn over, the second quarter was over and half time started.
Our coaches gave us a pep talk and encouraged us to score. It was the second quarter and we needed to score. I got the ball and as soon as my finger tips touched it, I knew I had to score. I ran 15 yards and was taken down by three guys. I ran the ball again. The field was open and I was gone. But then... the whistle blew, flags flew and it was an illegal formation on defense. Next play was a pass and we scored 7-0. This marked the end of the third quarter. Fourth quarter had begun and we had to stop them.
They threw a long pass and missed it. The Chiefs tried it again and this time it was over thrown, which made the ball ours. There was 50 seconds remaining. We did a quarterback kneel and won!
