Which One?

What are the similarities? What are the differences? Who would even care to compare and contrast these objects? By now your probably wondering what I'm talking about. In this essay you will read how books and binders have similarities and differences.

Books and binders have some things in common. Obviously, they both can open up. They both have covers, too. Last, the both can hold secrets and/or documents.

They also have some differences. Books have perilous adventures, or strange mysteries. Normally binders don't. Books also have titles and are typed. Binders hold work for multiple choices when a book stays on the same topic. Last, books don't help you get organized, when binders have different sections for you to put your work in. The illustrators for books choose the covers/colors, when you get to choose the colors for binders.

After you have read all this information, you can answer this question: Which one do you think is better?

It's Spring!

It's spring! It's spring!
What a wonderful thing!
There are robins chirping,
and people singing.
There are bright colors,
and children playing.
It's spring! It's spring!
What a wonderful thing!

Stranger Danger!

Eight years ago, when I was three, I was extremely petrified of people. I was living in Kansas City, Kansas with my two sisters and parents.

As I said, I was extremely terrified of people. I would scream and run behind my mom's leg anytime I saw someone.

Once, when we were at a park, a person strutted near us. I started wailing and screaming, even when the person was out of sight! It took my parents almost 10 minutes calm me down and to release my mom's leg.

When I started Pre-school, I walked inside, and darted straight back out to find my mom.
"It's alright," the teachers explained. "Don't worry! Pre-school is fun! We won't hurt you!"
"But I don't want to leave Mommy!" I screamed.
"Oh honey. How would you like it if I stayed here with you for half the day?" asked my mom.
"Okay."
So we walked inside, but I still played with my mom in the corner. Soon my mom had to leave, but before she did, some kids (soon to be my best friends) asked me if i wanted to play with them. So I agreed, and I had the BEST time!

A few months later, my family and I moved to where we are now- Iowa. It was a terrifying transition for me because of all of the people! Now I had another sister that was born in Kansas, so I wasn't the only one who screamed and cried!

In West Des Moines, I kept having a rush of loneliness, so I decided to make a change. When I started Kindergarten, I went over to people to try to have them be my friends. Soon, I had A LOT of friends!

I guess the point in this story is that you can do anything and overcome fear if you just set your mind to it.

Tackles vs. Flips

Most people think that gymnastics is easier than football. I would have to disagree. Gymnastics works not only muscle strength, it also works flexibility. Have you ever sen Shawn Johnson do flips on TV? Have you seen the NFL with your dad on Sunday? This essay will tell you which sport is best for you.
Gymnastics is not an easy sport. You have to be light so you can do high flips. It's important to get a lot of height so you don't hurt yourself. You also have to discipline yourself. You will only get better by setting goals and practicing. Finally, you have to be flexible. You can't do as much when your not. Gymnastics is definitely a hard sport.
Football is the most dangerous sport. You get injured with concussions, broken legs, and snapped necks. Also there are a lot of rivalries that involve others getting hurt. Last, you need a lot of pads. You need them everywhere, plus a helmet and a mudguard. Mostly everything in football is dangerous.
Sure, both of these are hard But again gymnastics works muscle strength and flexibility. Remember: If gymnastics were easy, it would be called football. Well, what do you think?

My Dad In The Air Force

My dad is so cool! He got to get a license to fly a plane, he got to go on survival trainings,he even about went to war! That's right, he was in the Air Force.

Did you all wear the same uniform?
It depended on you group/job.

You once told me you ate dandelion soup. Is that true?
Yes, on survival trainings.

What did the soup taste like?
It tasted pretty plain, and somewhat bitter, but when it was boiled, the bitterness went away.

Did you make some friends?
Yes, lots of them. Friendships are very important in the military.

Can you tell me their names?
Sure! Here are a few: Ray Flannery, Rodney Radcliff, Aaron Barrick, and Bob Mack.

How many years were you in the Air Force?
I was in the Air Force for 7 years.

Was it hard?
It wasn't always.

What was hard about it?
It was hard to be a leader, how to tell people older than me how to behave, mostly to practice war.

What was your favorite part of the Air Force?
Definitely the people. Making new friends and learning about people.

Were you ever close to going to war?
Yes. I was in Tech School and the people who were going to the job I was going to had to go.

Do you know what war?
The First Gulf War.

Was Mom ever worried about you?
I don't think so.

Why did you decide to stop?
I felt I had served my country long enough, and I didn't want to do what they wanted me to do.

What were some times you will never forget about your experience?
My trip to Germany and playing war games in the forest.

Is their anything else that you think is important?
I'm very proud of my service in the Air Force.

When I did this interview, I learned so many things about my dad that i didn't even know about! I had a lot of fun learning all of this, and I bet he had fun when he was in the Air Force.

Swinging Like A Monkey

It all started when I felt that I haven't swung in forever. So I raced to my backyard. I searched for my swinging tree, found it, and pounced on to a branch. I could feel the rough bark rubbing off on my hands. I could hear the birds chirping all around me. I could smell the fresh air. I could see children laughing and playing.

I then started swinging, and I thought that this would be a great holiday. So, I figured out the date, and it would be September 28th. So, I dashed to the State Council, and asked them if they could make it a holiday. They told me that they would vote on it. The answer was yes! I was so happy I skipped all the way home.

Now the holiday, International Swing Like A Monkey Day, has spread all the way around the world and every September 28th, people find their swinging tree, and swing.

How I Got My Dog

It was the cold winter morning of December 19. We were tired and getting closer. But then the longest train ever stopped us. We were waiting for about 5 minutes. We then kept driving, and cold here sleigh bells from a distance. I was looking out the window, and saw exactly 7 male deer in a field.
After a while, we got to our Grandma's house, exhausted, and heard whimpering. We darted into the backroom. Right i the center was a big cardboard box. My mom looked inside and slowly and carefully picked up a puppy!!!!!!!
Once everyone got over the shock, we began to play with her. I could feel her soft fur. After a while, we found a note on the side of the box. We opened it up and found that she was 7 weeks old and her name was Lucy.
Then we began the feast. The mashed potatoes smelled like they had just come out of the oven. The turkey smelled like it was just bout and cut. I could feel the spoon in my hand, just ready to dig in and find what to eat first.
Now, we have had Lucy for about a year. Her real birthday is somewhere in October, so that is coming up. She has been having tons of accidents in the house, but at least we have her.
