i-Touch v.s. Books

There's one main way to read, a book. But in Mr. Goerend's 5/6 English class, we are allowed to use our i-Touches to read. I like both ways, but i-Touches are more fun in my opinion.

Books are a good way to read. Well a great way. There are not many ways to read at all, and all most everyone uses books. Books are very easy to get. But you would have to go to a library or store to get it. And you have to keep going back to get different books. Compared to the i-Touch, reading a book seems boring.

The i-Touch is another great way to read. One of the few. People enjoy using the i-Touch instead of a book. Sliding is much more fun than flipping a page. You can pick from a selection of books at the touch of a finger, no need to go to a store. But not every one has an i-Touch. They are also expensive, so if a student were to lose it there would be trouble. Student could also just play game instead of reading.

Both ways are great ways to read. They both have their pros and cons. Like me, most people prefer the i-Touch to read.

Good Bye

It was cool having a Marine brother. I could tell people my brother was a Marine, and could beat them up. But no one wants their brother to go to war. I don't like to talk about things like that. In fact, I don't like talking about sad things at all. I just want to be happy, and the people around me to be happy too. And this is where the story begins, my brothers in the Marines, and was about to be shipped of to Iraq. I try not to think about that, but that's a hard thing to do.

It was 4th period. And I was in math. Every so often my eyes flicker to the clock. Today is the day Carrick is going to Iraq. I've dreaded this day ever since Carrick became a Marine. After math, I would be leaving to go see Carrick off. When I heard the words, "You may go", my heart stopped. I walked to my locker in a trans like state. Thinking about how I have said,"Good bye", to Carrick to many times. Right when I got to the front office, my mom was walking through the doors. Before I knew it we were at the air port. We walked to the area where we weren't allowed passed. The area were I've said,"Hi",and,"Good bye", to Carrick before. After the hugs and fake laughs, Carrick said,"Well I have to go", and every one said bye Carrick. Watching him walk away was the hardest part. By then, my mom is wiping away tears, and my sister turned away to cry. My other brother and I standing there with blank expressions. My dad just trying to comfort every one.

Things were almost normal after Carrick left. Almost. Every one asked about Carrick. Of course they would get the whole story from my mom. It was getting on my nerves. We would get the usual Skype from Carrick now and then. I was the one who spoke to Carrick the least, because it got uncomfortable between us when we had nothing to say.

Before we knew it, we got the word that Carrick was coming home! It was on Feb 19 (my other brothers birthday) when Carrick got home. We went to the base camp to wait for Carrick, because that's were hes going first. We mostly waited(very boring)for them to arrive. We got briefed on what they did over in Iraq. After a couple hours, the bus was here! They filled in and were released to us! When we found Carrick, I hugged him and said,"Welcome home".

Twilight vs. Harry Potter: what one?

Have you ever not been able to find the right book? Then read Twilight or Harry but what one? There is a very big competition between the two books: Twilight and Harry Potter. They are both very famous and are movies. Both have an amazing amount of fans. Also both of the authors are great writers. This essay will look at both sides and see what one is better.

Twilight is a great saga. In it, there is 4 books. As they get they get even better then the one before. Twilight is about a human falling love with a vampire. It seems like it could be real- accept Theres vampires and werewolves.

Harry Potter is a good series too. With 7 books in it. Its like they pull you into the the school of Hogwarts. The books are about Harry, his friends and his near death experiences at wizard school. They are fun to read because in every book he barely escapes death.

Even though they both are great books I personally love the the Twilight saga. Its interesting to read. It pulls you in and keeps you in. Twilight is a great book to read.

One air plane changed everything and crashed into one of the Twin Towers. Bringing flam's, smoke, damage and tears. Then just like the first, out of no where another plane crashed into the second Twin Tower. people were shocked and horrified. This is the horrific day of 9/11.

Question 3:
How old were you?

Answer: I was about 41.

Question 4:
Did you know anyone affected by 9/11?

Answer: No I did not.

Question 5:
What were your families reactions?

Answer: My husbands was the same as mine and my children were to young.

Question 6:
If you were sad, how long were you sad?

Answer: Yes I was, and I'm still sad about it to this day.

Question 7:
How did you hear about it?

Answer: My husband called and told me to turn on the T.V.

During my interview learned even more about 9/11 and how people felt when it happened. My point of view has changed, because I learned more about 9/11. Because I was young when it happened, I didn't know much other than 2 air planes crashed into the Twin Towers on purpose. I enjoyed hearing my moms point of view on 9/11.

My First Air Plane Ride

My first plane ride was to San Diego, California.  It was to go see my brother, who had just become a Marine and was training in San Diego.  I was so excited to see brother because I hadn't seen him in months!  My mom ad dad didn't want to go to the Des Monies Air Port because it was more expensive so we were going to drive to the Omaha Air Port instead.  The ride to Omaha was long and boring.  We were going to stay at a hotel and go to the air port in the morning.  When we got to the hotel it was midnight and we were all tired and ready for sleep.  As my dad checked us in we got our bags.  When we got in the lobby I noticed that it was a nice hotel but not the nicest hotel I've ever seen.  In our room now we were all changed and in bed.  At 3 in the morning on the dot we woke up.  Once we were in our clothes and in the van, and we were off. In the air port I was feeling strange about going on the plane . But when they called us on to the plane I was excited again.  The plane was really cool.  It was really easy to find my seat.  I was happy to have a window seat. The seats were really nice.  I can't put my finger on the smell but it smelled like an air plane. Once in my seat next to my mom we waited , it wasn't long before the pilot came on. I was asking my mom what it was like on take off.  I was getting more, and more excited about take off, it sounded like it was fun.  Finally lift off time.  As the pilot went off the loud speaker and was ready to go. I could feel and hear the engine. Then slowly but surely the plane started to move. My ears were popping and I was sick to my stomach.  But when the plane was in the air that was just the past.  I got to watch the ground get farther and farther away.  The ride was long and boring I was mostly watching out of the window.  After hours I could feel the plane get lower and the pilot said we were landing.  Finally we were in San Diego!
