what (car) are you?

I have only one question for you. Do you like the 2010 Honda Odyssey or the 2010 Corvette. My job is to tell you about these two awesome cars.

When I think of the Honda Odyssey I think of a vacation and a family. When I think Corvette I think of a person that is cool and rich.

Odysseys are good for vacations because they have a roomy interior with a lot of storage space. These vans can come in many different colors and you can get a small TV screen for the inside of the car. This car also has side doors in the back that slide so the wind can't slam them shut.

Corvettes are a good car that can be put on show and to show off your money. This is a good car if you are single or if there are 2 of you. These cars have moderately loud V8 engines and are really fast. These cars have very good aerodynamics.

I have told you every thing that you need to know except my opinion and it is the corvette because they are fast and Furious.

High Jump

It is a bright sunny day in mid August of 2009.

I am camping in the Boundary Waters paddling over to a great swimming area that we found.When we got to the Island after our boat and the other people that we came with parked our boats the kids ran over into the water. The parents observed us and every once in a while they came in the water.
After about 15-20 minutes Ellie got out of the water and saw a little cliff that she wanted to jump off of so she asked, "Dad can I jump off of this little cliff?"
Ellie's dad Tom replied, "How high is the cliff?"
"About ten feet high."
"OK, just jump out from the cliff."

So Ellie did jump then Andy asked Ellie if it was fun and she replied yes so he jumped too.
After about 4 minutes of splash after splash after splash I decided that it might be kind of fun. So I walked up and looked over the edge and just chickened out.
"Matt" Ellie yelled, "Jump!".
When she said that I decided just to get it over with so I walked up to the edge, thought twice, leaped, and Plummeted to the waters surface. The water was wet, a little cold, and pretty clear. When I resurfaced I wiped the water out of my face and yelled "THAT WAS AWESOME!".
So I went again and again and again. Finally after a while I tried to get Ellie's older sister Anne to jump and she said "NO". I kept trying to get her to jump for about three minutes then Ellie and Anne's mom told me to just go and play. Later that day after a lot of fun we didn't want to leave.
"Mom can we please stay 15 more minutes?" Ellie asked.
"No but one more jump for each of you." Teresa responded.

Later that night I was lying in my sleeping bag and thought to myself That I was brave to jump off of that cliff today and I thing there goes my fear of low heights.

Who do you choose?

It is Sunday afternoon. Don't you just hate it when your mom wants to watch the Minnesota Vikings football game and you want to watch the Chicago Bears? That always happens to me.

The Bears are my favorite team because they have Brian Urlacher and Devon Hester, both awesome players. They also had Walter Payton, a.k.a. Sweetness, an NFL Hall of Fame running back. The Bears have had a longer history of great players than the Vikings.

The Vikings may have Adrian Peterson, an NFL top rusher, and future Hall of Famer Brett Farve at quarterback, but that doesn't mean they always do well. The Vikings have a habit of disappointing their fans.

The Bears have been to two Super Bowls and won one. The Vikings have been to four, but were crushed in each one.

In my opinion, the Bears are the ones to watch because they have been around longer and continue to impress me. It is up to you who you like.

Thundering Fall

Loud crowds and people young to old gather at the wall, The Berlin Wall. The government is now weak. One day, the wall was under strong surveillance, the next day, none---triggering a thundering fall of the East German government.


Question #1: So Dad, where were you when the wall fell?
Answer: “I was in my junior year at Iowa State University watching T.V. in a student lounge.”

Question #2: How did you feel when the wall started to fall? Why did you feel that way?
Answer: “I was shocked and I didn’t think it would ever happen because the division had been there so long. It didn’t seem possible for it to go away any time soon.”

Question #3: Why was the wall so important to you?
Answer: “Because I had visited the wall in the summer of 1987, and I went to Check Point Charley and watched others cross the border into East Berlin.”

Question #4: What did you do after you heard about the fall of the wall?
Answer: “I watched T.V. well into the morning."

Question #5: Do you know anybody that was affected by the fall? If so, how were they affected by the fall?
Answer: “I did not personally know anyone directly affected by the wall. Indirectly, I’m sure my German brother who was in the West German Military at the time saw reduced tension on the East and West German border.”

Question #6: Do you think it was dangerous for the Germans?
Answer: “Potentially. The risk was in what the Soviet Union would do in response. East Germany was a puppet state and it ran the risk of provoking the Soviet Union to send troops to stop the fall of the wall.”

Question #7: I hear it was on your birthday when it fell. How were you celebrating your birthday?
Answer: “I was watching T.V. on November 9, my 22nd birthday.”

Question #8: Why T.V.?
Answer: “It was before the internet and every major news channel was covering this event live.”

Question #9: Did you want to be there at the moment?
Answer: “Yes, it would have been a chance to be part of a Where Were You When... moment.”

Question #10: Do you have any thing else to add?
Answer: When I was in Berlin, Check Point Charley was the main U.S. border crossing into East Berlin. Every afternoon, an East German armed personnel carrier would drive to the West Berlin side of the border and the solders would sit on the car and smoke. Why? Because they could.


My prospective changed because I never knew there was so much involved in this event. At first, I thought that someone hit the wall with a wrecking ball. I now know that the East German government collapsed.

A Hat, Long Nose, and Screachey laugh

On International Laugh Like a Witch Day (ILLAWD), you can just smell and taste all the moisture in the air. ILLAWD is a day where you will be annoyed because everyone will be laughing like a witch with a high squeaky pitch. The streets of New York City will be lined with tall skinny hats that are black and cloaks that are black. This day takes place on October 30 to get people in the mood for Halloween.
About 17 years ago, someone named Jefery thought that there should be a holiday before Halloween. When he heard his friend's laugh, he thought it should be called International Laugh Like a Witch Day. So he immediately got on the case. He wrote to the newspaper about his idea--that tomorrow, October 30, the people of Des Moines should have this day to get in the spirit of Halloween. Three years after it became a holiday in Des Moines, it became a holiday in all 50 states. So every year, the day before Halloween you should laugh like a witch.

My First Tackle Football Game

   I just left from a scout camp out at a shooting range. The truck I am riding in has leather seats. I just hate the smell of leather. We are about 45 minutes away from valley stadium for my first football game.

  

   We arrived about an hour early. It felt like we were on a griddle sitting in the sun waiting until about 15 minutes before the rest of the team is supposed to show up so we can change into our football uniform. We got out right when coach arrived.

   When pre-game warm ups started it started it felt like we were in a steamer, it was that warm. We started off with our pre-game warm ups jogging, stretching, form running, individual time, team time, and coaches speech. They were making nachos for the game. I play on the line.

   We started out on defense. We did not do well on offense neither did the other team. The score board at the end of the end of the quarter Giants (us) 0, Packers 0.

  

   Once we got the game in the second quarter we Scored even though the crowd was small it sounded like a NFL game. Once more the crowd went wild when we scored again. The score at the end of the first half was Giants 13, Packers 0. I was really glad that we had the lead.

   No body in the third quarter scored.

   We scored in the fourth quarter for the victory.

   Our coach gave us a speech on how proud he was with us. We finally got to go and get snacks.
