Dancin' or Swimin'

If I had a choice I would swim all morning and dance all afternoon. What about you? Do you like to swim or dance? Do you thing they have anything in common? I didn't think that they had this many things in common till now. In this essay you will see the similarities and differences between dancing and swimming.

First I will start off with the similarities. One of the most obvious one is that they are both sports. A sport is where you are physically active. In swimming and dance you are very active. Another similarity is that there is a variety of different kinds for both of them. In dance there is tap, ballet, and many more! In swimming there is backstroke, butterfly, and many more! Now you see that there is some similarities between dancing and swimming. There are plenty more if you can think of some.

Next are the differences between swimming and dancing. First there is a pretty obvious one. When you swim you are in the water. When you dance you can be anywhere on land. Another difference is that for dance you have to wear a leotard, tights, and a skirt or shorts. When you swim you have to wear a swim suit, a cap, and goggles. Now you see that there are some differences to these to sports. You could probably find some more if you think about it.

After this essay you have seen that there are some differences and similarities between dancing and swimming!!

Silence

"Boing! Boing!" The trampoline was saying while I jumped on my knees. I was at Chow's Gymnastics on the long trampoline doing knee flips. Knee flips are when you bounce on your knees and go into a flip. I did the first two really good and I was getting ready to go on to the third. But lets say after that I couldn't talk for a week. . .
As I came down from doing a knee flip my chin banged into my knee. And there is more! My tongue was sticking out so when my chin did bang into knee my teeth bit my tongue. As I got up a saw blood dripping down from my mouth onto the trampoline I realized what happened! I bit a hole in my tongue! It felt like a truck that weighed 1,000 pounds ran over my tongue. I ran over to my gymnastic teacher pointing at my tongue.
"What's the matter?" she said sweetly. I couldn't talk so I just kept pointing at my tongue.
"Oh! I see your tongue is bleeding," my teacher said like she didn't care.
"Uh-uh" I mumbled.
"Just go grab some paper towels from the bathroom to put on your tongue. Then you can just sit out'" she said again like she didn't care.
But I listened and went and grabbed some paper towels. Once I did I went and found my class and just sat on the side. The clock struck 8:30 so it was time for me to go. I couldn't wait to go home and tell my parents so they could do something about.
As I jumped in the car with the paper towels on my tongue my dad asked, "What happened to you?"
I couldn't talk so I opened my mouth and pointed to my tongue. My dad said, "Did you bite a hole in your tongue?"
I shook my head in response.
"Oh!! What did the teacher do? Tap my right hand if she helped you or tap my left hand if she didn't do a lot," my dad said concerned.
So I tapped his left hand.
"What! She didn't do anything?! Come on, lets go home," my dad said shocked.
When we got home my mom asked, "What happened?"
"She bit a hole in her tongue," my dad said with anger.
"Oh my. I'll call the doctor to see what we need to do," my mom said while walking to the phone.
My dad went to grab some new paper towels for me. I was sitting on our cream love seat turning on the T.V.
"No. It's time to go to bed," he said.
"Uh-uh," I mumbled.
"Cassie, you'll have to get up early because I scheduled an appointment at 8:00," my mom yelled from our kitchen. My dad guided me up the stairs and I went to bed in my bright blue comforter.
"Come on! Time to get up!" my mom said as she opened my white door. I shook my head because I was so tired. It was only 7:15.
"Well you have to get up," my mom said as she walked into the hallway. I lay in bed for about another 5 minutes and decided time to get up. I walked to the other side of my room where my dresser was to get my outfit on. I grabbed a blue top with a big red heart on it and my favorite jeans with holes in them. I quickly slipped them on and ran downstairs to our kitchen. I sat down at our glass table.
My mom walked by saying,"Good girl for getting up! Now do you just want eggs for breakfast?"
I shook my head up and down.
"Okay!" my mom said walking to the refrigerator grabbing the eggs. Our refrigerator was silver and had my brother's and I artwork all over it. As my mom was cooking the eggs, I got up to go turn the T.V. on.
My mom started walking toward the glass table with the eggs in the plate saying,"Your eggs are ready."
I jumped up from the couch and slowly nibbled on my eggs trying not to hurt my tongue.
"Time to go," my mom grabbing my coat and her coat from the mud room. I grabbed my coat from her hand. It felt like a fuzzy pillow and it was blue. Then I jumped into the car.
"Well she is very lucky that she doesn't need stitches on her tongue. If it was any bigger she would need a few stitches," the doctor said.
"Oh good! She doesn't need stitches! But what can we do to help her tongue heel?" my mom asked.
"Well first off she probably shouldn't talk a lot even if she is able to talk. Second, no hard or sticky food. So just stick to soft food items," the doctor responded.
"Okay. Thank you very much doctor," my mom said as she walked out the door.
For weeks my tongue was in pain, I couldn't talk very well, and I was stuck with soft food. But after awhile my tongue started to heel and the hole got smaller and smaller. Today it is closed up and I am very happy!! So some advice if any of you are in gymnastics doing knee flips don't stick your tongue out.

Lake Vs. Ocean

I could feel the wind blowing against my face. I was out on a boat gliding through the water. This is what it is like when you are out in a boat at Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is a great summer vacation place. Clearwater FL. is also a great place. Both of these places are awesome! I think Lake Tahoe is better, but in this essay you will find out what place you like.

First, lets listen to the Lake Tahoe side. One of the best reasons is that you get to go horse back riding. You get to go riding up one of the most prettiest mountains there. Wait!!! Now if you didn't like the sound of the horse thing well wait to you hear the next reason! The next reason would be a mini cruise ship. On the mini cruise ship you can ride around on Lake Tahoe. The wind feels great on your face as the ship sails. On the ship you can jump off into he water and take a dip. Finally, outside it is the perfect temperature to walk to a bunch of different shops. Or you can even walk out on the beach.

Now, the other side to the essay is Clearwater FL. The first reason would by you can swim in the ocean. The ocean is not cold but not to warm. The waves go up to a perfect height for you to bobble in the water. Another reason would be there are Putt-Putt golf places everywhere. It is fun in the evening to play and just hit the golf ball into a hole. Finally, the sand is as soft as a blanket. When I was there I laid on the sand instead of a towel. It is the softest and whitest sand in U.S.

Now don't both of those places sound amazing! I hope you chose witch side you are on! But I do hope you most of you agree with Lake Tahoe! It is truly amazing. Now I have to get back to sun tanning and reading my magazine out on the boat!

A Legend is Dead!

This is the day a bunch of people's lives changed. This is the day Elvis Presley died. Thoughts were running through peoples heads. He has died because of an over dose of drugs and cigarettes. Once again this is the day Elvis Presley died. I am interviewing my mom on Elvis Presley dying.

What where you thinking when Elvis died?
A legend has died. Will there ever be another one like him?

How did you get the news about Elvis dying?
I was watching the Merve Griffin Show when "Elvis died" came across the bottom of the screen.

What was your reaction?
I couldn't believe that he died?

What songs did you like that where by him?
I liked Love Me Tender, In the Ghetto, and Jail House Rock.

Did you like Elvis? Why or why not?
I loved him because he had a beautiful voice. He was one of a kind.

Do you wish you could of gone to one of his concerts?
Yes because he was an original Rock-and-Roller.

What where some experiences you have had with Elvis?
My mom and dad listened to his music all the time.

What were you doing when he died?
Playing games with my brother and sister while watching T.V.

What is a connection you have with Elvis?
We are both from small towns.

I have learned a lot about Elvis from doing this. I thought that he was just a normal singer. But I thought wrong, he was a loved one. He was a legend. He is still in many people's hearts today. I know he is in my mom's and dad's hearts.

Boing! Boing!

The holiday I started is International Hop Like a Kangaroo Day. This is a day when kids jump around from place-to-place the whole day, you have to do it. Even teachers have to do it! EVERYONE! Well not if you are an elderly person, but you are welcome to try. This is how the holiday was born. One day when I was walking out of math class, it happens. I could smell the nice warm gravy. I couldn't wait to slip it into my mouth. There was a bunch of people behind us about running so they could get to lunch. When one boy stepped on to my foot and I jump up to cling on to it. My math book and binder slid down on to my friends foot. My other friend just told us to hop around all day. So that's what we did. And that is how International Hop Like a Kangaroo Day was born. Now it is celebrated every February 22. Please try your best to do it. It is AWESOME!

The Moment

"Hoooooonk!" The cars were honking like never before. Why I was looking out the window, my brother was eating a fruit roll up. I could smell the fruityness. It made me starving. We were just coming from church. I asked, "Where are we going?" I had no idea where we were going. All I knew was we weren't by home. "It's a surprise," my mother said eargly. I was eager too, so I rolled down the window so I could feel the breeze. I heard a cling of the head phones as my brother dropped them on the floor. I junped in surprise.
"Cling, cling!" The doors made the loudest noise when we walked in. I shouted, "No way!" I couldn't veleive that we were at the Animal Rescue League. My parents said we weren't getting a dog, but I thought that maybe thay would change there minds. "Know we are here to look so don't fall in love with a puppy," he soaid in a weird voice. The place was very clean. You would think that with all the animals it would be really dirty. There was not a lot of people like there usually is. I could in the back room a lot of whining. It made me feel really sad. I couldn't bare it!

We started walking back to the room. It was sad looking at the innocent dogs. "Can we please get one," my brother whined. He is only four and really would die for a dog. We started walking. I could smell shampoo in the back from the dogs. The dogs were yelping. I felt so bad for them. It was like they were saying,"Help! Please!"
"O my goodness! he is so cute," I yelled excitedly. I could here his claws scraping against the tile floor. He was black and white. he was pretty small. And he had the cutest face! He had a little tennis ball in his mouth and it was covered in slobber. The dog loved to lick nonstop. It felt really weird to me. When I stroked the dog I could feel is ribs. He was really skinny. I wanted him so bad. I could not stop stroking him. My parents could not say no. So my dad said excitedly, "We can get him!" I started bowling. I could taste victory. And that's how I got my dog Chester!
